The Snohomish Classic Car and Hot Rod Display 2023!

As the rainstorms and amber leaves blow in, the last of the big car shows blow out, and the “41st Snohomish Classic Car & Hot Rod Display” wasn’t one to miss! Being new to Snohomish, I didn’t realize how long-running this show is and 41 years is impressive to boot! Despite the temperamental weather we’ve been having, we set off on foot to finally test the walking-distance from our new place to First Street. While a brisk walk, we were happy to discover it’s totally manageable and made a pact to try and walk to downtown more… maybe the walking will offset the dinners, drinks and lattes we should probably cut back on? You’re right… probably not.

A packed event, we ran into numerous familiar faces, right off the bat at that! While I can’t call myself a car-enthusiast, I definitely have an appreciation for classic cars. My grandpa and dad both collect cars and I’ve had my fair share of time spent at car shows growing up, as well as, seeing both of them building, tinkering and waxing them. Sadly, my grandpa passed this July 2023. Our last few large family outings with grandpa were all car related: LeMay Car Collection in Tacoma in March, the Classy Chassis Car show in Sumner, WA last summer & Father’s Day 2022 at the Thunderdome Car Museum in Enumclaw, WA. A collector of cars, my grandpa had various classics (mostly ‘50’s era Cadillacs) and a little red 50’s Thunderbird. My dad has fully restored and rebuilt a ‘31 Model A, which spent most of my childhood in pieces in cardboard boxes, as well as, a collection of cars ranging from muscle to hot rod to classic truck. Being a big time “Grandpa’s Girl” I am partial to the 40’s & 50’s Cadillacs as well, but love that era in general.

If you know my partner Aaron, you probably met him at a car show or talking about cars. While he was hoping to enter his classic Oldsmobile into the show, our whirlwind move took precedence over brain space. There are always more shows and car events, so you’ll surely run into us at one of them in the future!

Thank so much to the Snohomish Chamber of Commerce for putting on such a great show! Also big thanks to all of the participants! We loved checking out your bitchin’ rides! (My dad says “bitchin’”… I take no responsibility here).

Did I take a photo of your car and you need to have it!? Send me an email at andreahamre@johnlscott.com and I’d be happy to send the larger file your way!

We can’t wait to see you at the next Snohomish event and also at future local car shows. Know of an event we can’t miss? Drop it in the comments, I love to know what’s going on in our neck of the woods!
